What we do

The Ansarian Collective is a group of volunteers responding to the everyday needs of refugee families across Malaysia — families registered with UNHCR but with no formal legal status, no right to work, no access to public schools, and healthcare only at rates most can't afford.

Weekend learning centers for children who can't enroll in Malaysian public schools.

Why we do it
Displacement shouldn't mean invisibility.
Malaysia isn't a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention. Refugees here can be registered with UNHCR and still have no formal legal status — no guaranteed protection from detention, no right to work, no place in public schools for their children.
That's not a policy failure we can fix. It's the gap we choose to stand in.
A person's legal status doesn't define their worth, and while systems change slowly — if at all — people need somewhere to turn now. That's what The Ansarian Collective is for.
